1893 Chicago World's Fair - "The Palace at Night- Night Illumination
Chicago Tribune Art Supplement, August 6, 1893
Original color lithographic art supplement published by the Chicago Tribune to commemorate the World's Columbian Exposition. This iconic nighttime view depicts the celebrated The Palace at Night- illuminated against the night sky with dramatic reflections across the Grand Basin. Gondolas glide through the foreground as electric light and water displays showcase the technological marvels that defined the White City.
Night views from the 1893 Exposition are significantly scarcer than daytime scenes and remain among the most sought-after images from the series. This example retains strong original color with excellent architectural detail and atmosphere.
A museum-worthy survivor from one of the most important international exhibitions of the 19th century.
