This is an original vintage propaganda-era portrait poster depicting Chairman Hua Guofeng , the successor to Mao Zedong and leader of the Chinese Communist Party from 1976-1981 . The poster features the classic official-state portrait style used during Hua's short-lived personality-cult period, with soft hand-tinted colors, a neutral background, and Hua shown in his standard Zhongshan (Mao) suit.

These posters were produced for display in public offices, schools, and homes during the transitional political period immediately after Mao's death.
